On Shabbos HaGadol, MTA hosted its annual Yeshiva Fellowship Shabbaton at the Kartrite Resort in the Catskills. The event began with a fun Friday afternoon, where talmidim enjoyed the resort’s many amenities, including the indoor arcade. Talmidim then spent an inspirational Shabbos with their Yeshiva Fellowship Mashgichim, filled with lots of learning sedarim to spiritually prepare for Pesach, lively minyanim, inspiring divrei Torah, and delicious seudos. The Shabbaton ended with an epic musical Melave Malka. Throughout Shabbos, talmidim continued to motivate each other to achieve higher levels of learning and spirituality. MTA Head of School and Senior Mashgiach Rabbi Joshua Kahn has been leading a pre-Shacharis chaburah for the past 3 years, which was mesayem the sefer V’a’Ani Tefillah during the Shabbaton. “It was truly meaningful to culminate 3 years of learning together during the Shabbaton,” said Rabbi Kahn. “The commitment of our talmidim who have been learning with me every morning before davening is inspiring and it was really special to share our accomplishment with the entire Yeshiva Fellowship.” The Yeshiva Fellowship program is a unique initiative that provides MTA talmidim with additional opportunities to grow in Torah and to develop both communally and individually. Talmidim benefit from the personal guidance of a dedicated Mashgiach for each cohort and also participate in special trips, programs, Shabbatons, and Melaveh Malkas. With the participation of Rav Hershel Schachter, distinguished Posek and RIETS Rosh Yeshiva/Rosh Kollel, and Rav Zvi Sobolofsky, esteemed RIETS Rosh Yeshiva, Yeshiva Fellowship talmidim take advantage of MTA’s relationship with the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (RIETS) at YU. This includes following a special halacha curriculum, participating in chaburos with RIETS Roshei Yeshiva, and a weekly Night Seder.

Rabbi Danto's Freshman Shiur went to Monsey on Thursday, March 10th, where they completed another incredible Retzifus Chazzara, chazzering everything they have learned in Maseches Megillah so far this year. They learned for 2 entire hours straight with no interruptions! At the end of the seder, they met with Rabbi Dovid Newman, Founder of the V'Haarev Na learning program, which has revolutionized the way that yeshiva high school talmidim are learning. Rabbi Newman was amazed by the dedication the talmidim have for their learning and was completely blown away by the fact that many of them have chazzered each daf over 10 times and some have even chazzered more than 100 times! Rabbi Newman was so impressed that he gave each talmid an interlinear siddur, sponsored a seudah for them which will take place next week, and invited the entire Shiur to the special V'Haarev Na Simchas HaTorah event that is only open to grades 12 and up! The Retzifus Chazzara culminated with singing and dancing as well as a seudah to celebrate this amazing accomplishment.

With just a few more months to go until graduation, MTA isn’t wasting any time making sure that Seniors have plenty of opportunities to create incredible memories! The yeshiva’s Senior Ski Trip was no exception! Seniors had a blast skiing and snowboarding at Montage Mountain in Pennsylvania on Wednesday, March 9th. Seniors even helped each other out, as first-time skiers were given lessons by their fellow classmates who are experienced skiers. It was the perfect way for talmidim to spend quality time with friends and rebbeim and continue to build lifelong friendships that will last far beyond graduation.

MTA Sophomores and Juniors had a blast celebrating Rosh Chodesh Adar Beis at Chelsea Piers Connecticut! The day began with Shacharis and Shiur and continued on to this incredible fun-filled trip that featured ice skating, rock climbing, sports, a ninja warrior course, batting cages, trampolines, and so much more! Talmidim enjoyed bonding together as a grade, spending quality time with their rebbeim outside the classroom as well as the opportunity to hang out with friends who they may not share classes with. Talmidim were greeted with pre-Mishmar chulent and kugel when they returned to yeshiva to end the day the way it started - with talmud Torah!

MTA Freshmen enjoyed an incredible Night In Yeshiva with their rebbeim and Senior Cub2Lion mentors on Thursday, February 17th! The evening kicked off with pizza and a d’var Torah, then the real fun began! Freshmen broke into groups for Senior Scramble, an exciting team-building activity run by their Cub2Lion Senior mentors. Working together as a cohesive group, each team raced through a series of challenges to earn as many points as possible. Afterwards, everyone boarded buses to Urban Air Trampoline Park for even more fun and excitement! “It’s incredible to see first-hand how comfortable our Freshmen have become in their new high school environment,” said Freshman Grade Dean Rabbi Eli Cohn. “They have truly bonded together as a grade and Freshman Night In is a great way for talmidim to continue solidifying the relationships they have developed with each other, their rebbeim, and their Senior mentors.” The night continued back at MTA with ice cream sundaes, sports, and games. Everyone returned home the next morning after Shacharis, breakfast, and a d’var Torah. “Witnessing the incredible achdus as our Freshman talmidim bond over all of these exciting activities is truly an unforgettable experience,” Rabbi Cohn shared. “It’s extremely rewarding to watch as these relationships continue to grow throughout the year.”

MTA Freshmen had an incredible time on their Freshman Shabbaton at the Hudson Valley Resort. The exciting trip began with laser tag on Thursday night and continued on through Friday and Shabbos with lively davening, meaningful learning programs, beautiful seudos, fun games, team-building activities, sports, swimming, and so much more. Motzei Shabbos featured an uplifting havdalah, followed by an amazing Melave Malka, including a live DJ, dancing, and inflatables. Talmidim truly enjoyed the opportunity to make new friends, bond together as a grade, and spend time with their rebbeim outside the classroom.

By: Yitzchak Hagler (‘22) New Orleans, Louisiana was the destination for 15 determined MTA Juniors and Seniors, who rushed to make their flight on Motzei Shabbos, November 6th. Their mission: to help out in any way they could with relief efforts in areas hit hard by recent hurricanes and natural disasters - and help out they did. Thanks to great organizations like NECHAMA, AmeriCorps, and, of course, NCSY Relief Missions, MTA talmidim cleaned out a cemetery full of fallen trees, gutted multiple flooded homes, and helped out in any and all ways needed over the course of two chessed-filled days. The talmidim also had a lot of fun, enjoying a horse and buggy tour of the French Quarter, an exciting bowling trip, visits to Brothers, and food from local kosher restaurants. They were accompanied on the trip by Head of School Rabbi Joshua Kahn and bowler navigator extraordinaire Assistant Director of Student Activities Rabbi Sam Dratch from MTA, as well as Rabbi Eitan Katz and Mr. Ari Greene from NCSY. The MTA-NCSY New Orleans Chessed Mission gave these talmidim the opportunity to open their eyes to the suffering of others and begin to do what they can to help - to witness the very real needs of the greater world we live in and do something to make a difference.

On Thursday, October 14th, the entire MTA Class of 2025 enjoyed an exciting day on their Freshman Hike. Talmidim spent time bonding with each other and their rebbeim on the hiking trails, where they pushed themselves outside their comfort zones in team-building activities and had the opportunity to make new friends. After a quick detour to 7-11 for post-hike slurpees, they ended the day with sports, games, and a BBQ dinner. MTA is proud to offer an enhanced Freshman Experience, including fun events like this one, guidance sessions, and team-building workshops, which enable the Freshman talmidim to bond cohesively as a grade and spend time with boys who they may not share classes with.

MTA’s recent 10th - 12th Grade Shabbaton was truly epic! The event was held at Camp Dora Golding and featured unbelievable activities, including sports, games, hikes, shiurim and chaburahs, BBQ’s, bonfires, and all-night sports tournaments. Talmidim truly enjoyed this special opportunity to bond with their friends, rebbeim, and teachers. “Shabbaton is always one of the biggest highlights of our year,” shared Dean of Student Life Rabbi Danny Konigsberg. “Our talmidim get to spend an entire Shabbos with their rebbeim and teachers and their families, engaging in meaningful conversations, enjoying inspiring shiurim, uplifting minyanim, and of course, lots of fun activities in an energetic atmosphere. The ruach and achdus on Shabbaton are unparalleled and we’re already looking forward to next year!”

MTA Seniors and their rebbeim headed off for an adventure-filled three-day trip to mark the end of their high school journey together. The trip, which took place on Tuesday, June 1st through Thursday, June 3rd, was based at Camp Dora Golding and included an unbelievable array of activities and events. From Six Flags Great Adventure, whitewater rafting, paintball, hiking, endless sports, and midnight BBQ’s to lively minyanim, kumsitzes, divrei Torah, shiurim, and chevrusahs, everyone had an incredible time. Seniors truly enjoyed this final opportunity to solidify the friendships they built with one another over the past four years as well as the strong relationships they developed with their rebbeim and teachers. The trip culminated with MTA’s Yeshiva-Wide Seudas Preidah & Siyum, where Seniors had one last chance to celebrate their learning, spiritual growth, and development as b’nei Torah with the entire yeshiva and all of the rebbeim who made an impact on their lives throughout their 4 years at MTA. It was a truly memorable experience that they will take with them after graduation.
