Preparedness is everyone鈥檚 responsibility, and it鈥檚 important that you take a moment to review campus emergency procedures and determine your plan of action in the event of a campus situation. The 性爱天堂 鈥 Office of Emergency Management and Crisis Management Team maintain procedures and resources to help you prepare and stay safe before, during, and after a campus emergency. Below, you鈥檒l find information and links to register for TrinAlert emergency notifications, as well as other resources to help keep you informed.

As a member of the 性爱天堂 community, you are encouraged to prepare for emergency situations by doing the following:

  • Be familiar with life safety procedures in the event of an emergency. Types of emergencies to prepare for may include severe weather and natural disasters, active threats, building fires/infrastructure issues, and accidents related to hazardous materials among other threats and hazards.
  • Make a plan of action ahead of time with your roommates and coworkers.
  • Assemble an emergency go-kit with some essentials, such as bottled water, snacks, first aid supplies, medications, flashlight, and other items you may need should you have to evacuate quickly. Check out the for a full list of items to consider.
  • Know how to report suspicious activity to campus authorities 鈥 if you see something, say something!
  • Stay informed by registering to receive TrinAlert emergency notifications.
  • Download the 性爱天堂 safety app called 鈥淪ee Say,鈥 which is a powerful tool that allows users to call and interact with TUPD or report a crime on or around campus.
Emergency Procedures 鉄

Personal Safety First

Think personal safety first, assistance of others in need second, and defer to professionals who will be doing all they can to stabilize any crisis situation.听

If a campus-wide crisis occurs, campus authorities will immediately respond to the scene. Campus authorities may also contact local San Antonio emergency responders for assistance.听

  • Those on campus are to respond to any campus-wide notification as quickly as possible.听
  • The Crisis Management Team will set up an emergency operations center.
  • Decisions about continuation of class and regular office functions will be communicated as soon as possible through regular channels.听
  • A hotline may be set-up to allow family members and friends to call in to lean more details about those who may have been immediately involved or affected. Calls simply seeking general information should be avoided to free up resources to deal with immediate situations.听
  • Longer term plans and information will be released as an initial assessment is completed.听
  • Employees are asked to not talk to the media, but to defer all questions to the University Communications Office of Public Relations.

The following are shelter-in-place recommendations and procedures in the event of a severe weather situation: 听

  1. Monitor local weather conditions via local news sources or the . Heed all warnings and protective actions provided by official sources.
  2. Go to the lowest floor possible during inclement weather.
  3. Seek shelter in interior bathrooms, hallways, and/or classrooms away from windows.
  4. Other interior rooms or spaces may also serve as good shelter spaces, such as closets, storage rooms, or conference rooms. The idea is to put as many walls as possible between you and the outside.
  5. Avoid large rooms with wide-spanning roofs (i.e. gymnasiums, cafeterias, etc.).
  6. Shelter-in-place until the storm has passed and conditions improve. Continue to stay weather-aware, and tune-in to local news or weather stations for the latest information, radars, and forecasts.

Please look for these areas in the buildings you frequent ahead of time, including residence halls and your dorm rooms, so you'll be prepared in case you need to act quickly and shelter-in-place during a severe weather event.

Notification Procedures

TrinALERT

You can register with TrinAlert听to have emergency text announcements sent directly to your cell phone. Only warning requiring immediate action will be sent via this system.听

Emergency Telephone Alert

Messages may be broadcast directly to all student rooms and offices where there are University telephones. Messages will scroll as text and/or be broadcast over the telephone as intercom announcements.听

E-mail Notification

Official news, information and instructions will be distributed by e-mail. Please check your听听on a regular basis.听

Mass Notification System

This is an outdoor notification system that uses a siren followed with a message to alert the campus community to take shelter in the event of an emergency. For more information, please read our Frequently Asked Questions page on this new system.

The 性爱天堂 Website

The university's web site will use alert banners to communicate official news, information and instructions in the event of an emergency, disaster and/or campus network outage.
