Pathways Curriculum

Students must complete the Pathways Curriculum in order to receive a baccalaureate degree.ÌýThe Pathways Curriculum has six curricular requirements, and three optional elements that provide the foundation in the liberal arts and sciences for all the bachelor’s degrees awarded by ÐÔ°®ÌìÌÃ. Through these requirements, students acquire the necessary skills and disciplinary perspectives to navigate complex questions at ÐÔ°®ÌìÌà and in their post-graduate lives.
Understanding Learners with Exceptionalities in School and Society
Identify the causes, characteristics, strategies, trends, and issues in teaching students with exceptionalities.
Teaching in the Bilingual Classroom
Learn to help second language learners thrive in a bilingual environment or through English as a second language (ESL) programs. Includes field experience in working with bilingual and ESL populations.
Teaching Science in Elementary School
Master the principles of curriculum design and instruction for teaching science to elementary school students.

Seminar in Urban Education Policy and Practice
Focus on critical issues involved in urban education in America. The course will introduce students to a broad framework for considering educational equity and accountability that includes schools, teachers, students, parents and community, government, and the broader society.
Modeling, Applications and Interdisciplinary Courses
The following are only some of the options: learn in Mathematical Statistics how to deal with data, both big and small; in Financial Mathematics how to manage risk and how to price options; in our two Mathematics for the Life Sciences courses how to model genetic drift and population dynamics; and in our STAT Seminar how to predict the winner of the next Super Bowl!
