Pathways Curriculum

Students must complete the Pathways Curriculum in order to receive a baccalaureate degree.ÌýThe Pathways Curriculum has six curricular requirements, and three optional elements that provide the foundation in the liberal arts and sciences for all the bachelor's degrees awarded by ÐÔ°®ÌìÌÃ. Through these requirements, students acquire the necessary skills and disciplinary perspectives to navigate complex questions at ÐÔ°®ÌìÌà and in their post-graduate lives.
International Issues in Health and the Environment
Explore the social factors, such as inequality and power, in creating environmental conditions that affect global health, focusing on marginalized regions and people.
Global Cities: Africa, Asia, and the Americas
Study urban processes in Asia, Africa, and the Americas by examining the major problems of housing and infrastructure confronting cities in these regions, with an emphasis on the role of globalization in urban transformation.
Morality in the Marketplace
Explore rationality and morality in economic relations from a cross-cultural perspective. Lectures and readings will draw on neoclassical, Marxist, and cultural ecological models and case studies in Southeast Asia and Latin America.

Pirates, Merchants, and Marines: Seafaring in the Ancient Mediterranean
Explore human relations with the sea through the cargo of shipwrecks, inscriptions, graffiti, wall paintings and mosaics, literary texts, and gravestones.
Seminar on the Ancient Maya
Survey the culture of the ancient Maya, including material culture, as well as mythology, calendrics, art, and writing. It will cover several ancient Maya sites in depth, as well as the contact period and the contemporary Maya.
